So geschehen 1981\/82 als eine Erweiterung des Hilton Hotels zwischen Rheinstra\u00dfe und L\u00f6hrstra\u00dfe gebaut wurde. Hier wurden Wracks von Schiffen gefunden, die sich auf das 3.\/4. Jahrhundert, also r\u00f6mischer Zeit, datieren lie\u00dfen. Dieser bemerkenswerte Fund war die Geburtsstunde des R\u00f6merschiffmuseums, das im Jahr 1994 in einer ehemaligen Lokhalle der Ludwigsbahn an der Holzhofstra\u00dfe in der S\u00fcdstadt seiner Bestimmung \u00fcbergeben wurde.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Die gefundenen Wracks, die heute hier zu sehen sind, wurden konserviert, damit sie der Nachwelt erhalten bleiben. Anhand dieser Funde konnten originalgetreue Nachbauten der Schiffe erstellt werden. Zwei dieser Nachbauten sind in Originalgr\u00f6\u00dfe ausgestellt. Andere Schiffe wurden im Modellma\u00dfstab rekonstruiert.
