Dieses Verkehrsmittel hat sich hier bew\u00e4hrt, und seit dem 11.Dezember 2016 gibt es\u00a0nun zwei neue Linien, die Linie 51 verbindet jetzt <strong>Mainz-Finthen<\/strong> mit dem Stadtteil <strong>Lerchenberg<\/strong>, jenem Stadtteil in dem einige Medien zuhause sind, allen voran das Zweite Deutsche Fernsehen (ZDF), sowie die Linie 53 zum B\u00fcrgerhaus in <strong>Mainz-Hechtsheim<\/strong>. Von der Endhaltestelle Hindemithstra\u00dfe in <strong>Mainz-Lerchenberg<\/strong> bis zum Hauptbahnhof fahren beide Linien auf der neuen Trasse der sogenannten <strong>Mainzelbahn<\/strong>. Diese neue Strecke bindet die Stadtteile Hartenberg, Bretzenheim und Marienborn an das Stra\u00dfenbahnnetz der Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) an. Ebenso sind die Universit\u00e4t, die Fachhochschule und das Fu\u00dfballstadion mit den neuen Linien erreichbar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Offizieller Baubeginn war im Mai 2014 w\u00e4hrend mit der Planung bereits im Jahr 1999 begonnen wurde. F\u00fcr die Mainzelbahn wurden auch neue Fahrzeuge angeschafft. Insgesamt hat das Projekt rund 84 Mio. Euro gekostet. Ein gro\u00dfer Teil wurde durch F\u00f6rdermittel des Bundes und des Landes finanziert, ca. 31 Mio. Euro tragen die Stadtwerk Mainz.
