Jahrhundert lag die Stadt <strong>Oppenheim<\/strong> direkt am <strong>Rhein<\/strong>. Der Verlauf des Stroms hatte sich aber im Laufe der Zeit immer mal ver\u00e4ndert und so entstand zwischen der Stadt und dem Rhein ein Auwald. Das <strong>Oppenheimer W\u00e4ldchen<\/strong> misst 26 ha und ist seit 1989 Naturschutzgebiet. Bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt herrschte hier\u00a0eine Monokultur von Pappeln vor. Viele von Ihnen wurden inzwischen gef\u00e4llt um anderen B\u00e4umen und Geh\u00f6lzen eine Chance zu geben. Der Wald ist seitdem sich selbst \u00fcberlassen und entwickelt sich\u00a0zu einem wahren Urwald. So bietet der kleine Wald vielen Tieren einen Lebensraum. Hier spiegeln sich riesige alte Pappeln im ruhigen Wasser.
