Sie ist Teil eines ehemaligen Zisterzienserinnenklosters, welche im Jahr 975 erstmals urkundlich erw\u00e4hnt wurde. Im 15. Jahrhundert wurde dieses\u00a0Kloster zerst\u00f6rt. Die Kapelle hatte man aber im Jahr 1572 wieder aufgebaut. Sie liegt an dem rheinhessischen Abschnitt des Jakobswegs, des Pilgerweges nach Santiago de Compostella.
