Sie sind die Reste eines um das Jahr 70 n.Chr. gebauten Aqu\u00e4dukts, welches die damalige Stadt mit Wasser aus den Quellen im heutigen Stadtteil Finthen (Fontanetum) versorgte. Von dem einst 9 km langen und bis zu 25 m hohen <strong>Aqu\u00e4dukt<\/strong>, das als das h\u00f6chste n\u00f6rdlich der Alpen gilt, sind heute noch die Reste von 69 Pfeilern vorhanden, die entlang eines Fu\u00dfweges, der das Zahlbachtal mit dem h\u00f6her gelegenen Campus der Universit\u00e4t verbindet, in gerade Linie stehen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mainz-Zahlbach &#8211; Die R\u00f6mersteine sind Zeitzeugen des r\u00f6mischen Mainz (Mogontiacum).
